The following is the final result: Norway was first with10 more total medals than the second (Germany), and 7 more gold medals than the 3rd (China, the host). The USA ended 4th with 10 more medals than China, but 1 less gold medal than its global competitor. The USA, Sweden, and the Netherlands got a tie in golden medals: 8. Austria and Switzerland won 7 gold medals, 1 less than the USA but 7 and 11 less in the total count, respectively. The Russian Olympic Committee received only 5 less total medals than the winner, Norway, but 1 gold less than Austria and Switzerland, 2 less than the Netherlands, Sweden and the United States of America, 3 less than China, 6 less than Germany, and 10 gold less than Norway, the final winner. The total results, after Switzerland (the 8th) and Russia (the 9th) include France in the top 10, with 5 golds, and 14 medals, that would create a tie in total medals with Switzerland. With that account, ROC would be the 2nd, and Canada would be the 4th. The counting is the following: Ukraine ended 25th, in a tie with Spain, with no golds, but 1 silver. No other American country won any other medal but Canada, and the USA. Canada ended 4th in total medals, after Germany (3rd in total medals), Russia (2nd in total medals), and Norway (1st in total medals, and 1st in the valid accounting because of its 1st place in golds). The USA ended 5th in total medals, but 4th in the valid ranking.
